About Me
I started working at Pet Companions, Inc, in January
2001. It's a dog daycare where people can leave their dogs
while they are away or at work. There are no kennels - the
dogs are free to roam around, sleep on beds, play with tennis
balls and just enjoy the company of other dogs. On a typical
day we can have anywhere from 40 to 60 dogs at the daycare. A
lot of them show up each week, so I have gotten to know them
pretty well. One day I brought my camera to work to see if I
could capture some of their "personalities" on film. I had
such a good time, that since then i've taken rolls and rolls
of film. The biggest challenge when taking photos here is not
the lack of a good scene, it's the fact that when I kneel down
to take the picture, half of the dogs rush over to see what
I'm doing. If I take too long to get the shot, they end up
standing in front of me, either giving me kisses or sticking
their nose on the lens.
Before Pet Companions, I studied physics and astronomy and
worked for a time at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory
in Cambridge, MA. While science and astronomy is something
I'll always enjoy, for now I wanted to check out other
interests... like scooping dog poop.
